Muse Monday

 Tova Thomas
aka
my soul sister

I was noticing that I really haven't been doing my "weekly muse". I think i stopped with Mary Kate Olsen well, because her style pretty much embodies what i'm really feeling style wise right now. So i started to think of othe women who inspire me and one person came to mind. Ive known her since middle school, shes my soul sister in every way, and not only is she a fantastic person with amazing style, she is a model, an artist, and most importantly a mom to a beautiful little girl. her style is a little bit gypsy and a little bit rock and roll depending on her attitude. She loves natural stones, earthy tones, and is a creative lovable soul who pours her heart into everything she does. i love her and everything she believes in. I am truly blessed to have her in my life and to have her, style wise as well, to help inspire me.

rainy weekends are good for the soul

So for the last couple weekends have been pretty lazy and pretty wonderful.
Last weekend Anthony and I met up with a couple friends at casino (tacky I know) but they had a free whiskey tasting and we had to go. We even enjoyed geriatric hour at the local piano bar. it was a hoot! We checked out Body Worlds at the Science Center. It was so fascinating to see and I would highly recommended anyone to go see it. We then went to Postino's Wine Cafe for lunch. I AM completely hooked on this restaurant! Great food, Great service, and Great drinks! Everything on the menu is wonderful!!

before we dug in
after we indulged
i love this can! oh and my Peach
Bellini

This weekend we chose to not leave the house at all!
One due to my lovely little chest pains giving me a signal that I should probably relax a bit and the rainy weather that just makes you want to wear sweatpants, a hoodie, and cuddle up in bed with the one you love. We watched movies like "The Social Network", "Peep Show", and even "The Ugly Truth". I'm such a sucker for romantic comedies. ALL of them! but you need to eat when your being a total couch potato so I cooked off and on made some yummy goodies.

for breakfast I made Nutella French Toast with Fruit.
For snacks and desert: Lemon Drop Cupcakes
So yummy!
Chicken and Apple Sausages with  Terra chips and a nice cold beer.
for dinner i took inspiration from my favorite two types of bruschetta from Postino's.
I made prosciutto, fig jam, Brie spread, and pistachio panini's
with a spinach salad, lightly sprinkles with more pistachios & balsamic vinegar.

YUM!

the gypsy march goes on

Here are some of my most favorite pieces and looks for spring.  Right now I am feeling a little hippie-gypsy, well I always do. I've always loved stones and flowy, airy fabrics but this time I am liking them with a little more edge, nothing too sweet. Crochet, fringe, and chunky heals, oh my! I am excited for spring and summer so I can wear all these great looks.

another woodland town full of love

pre-Valentine's Day roses

For Valentines weekend we went to Flagstaff. We stayed in a little hotel with a jacuzzi tub and a comfy bed meant for cuddling.  For us traveling to near by woodland towns is exciting and relaxing. Our first trip together was to Jerome, AZ. Which is probably our most favorite place to visit. It brings back memories of firsts and flirts from the beginning of our relationship. Flagstaff is known for their college downtown vibe in the middle of the mountains, artsy hangouts, snow-bowl, and local brewery's aka beer. well im not much of a snowboarder so we enjoyed everything else about the homey town.

as time goes on we get a little more goofy. i like it
that way.

lunch at Flagstaff Brewing Company.
my burger has pears, figs (my new obsession),Brie cheese
and balsamic.  Fantastic!

anthony's Black and blue burger

at our hotel's "social hour" we received free booze!
we had the choice of "dark" or "light" beer
or
"red" or "white" wine.
it turns out white wine has no name other than white and it
came out of a box.
dark beer had no name as well.
but
we did get a Styrofoam bowl filled with Lays potato chips
and FREE ice cream with sprinkles on it.
social hour was also filled with teenagers due to a jazz
festival in town.  lots of teenagers.
i went to bed with a headache from the lovely drink
selection.
i should have chose "dark" beer.
sexy man whose going to kill me for posting this

this is what i must look like to a lot of people
since i am only 5'2".

burly man beard showin' it off.

most painful yet
we both got the exact same tattoo.
different locations
his is a little larger
mine is on my ankle
his on his arm
keys have always been our thing
we would buy each other key trinkets,
jewelry, and so ons. but now we always
have them on us.
post tattoo drink.
ate lunch at a place that wasn't that good
a big disappointed. but my drink was good.

Flagstaff night life isn't too crazy but we did luck out on this
free concert at the Hotel Monte Vista.  We saw The Shakers  who
opened for Black Carl, who I am completely in LOVE with!! If you
haven't heard them, you NEED to!
The lead singer is totally funny and any chick with that voice
and talent has my heart. i want to hang out with her. and how shes not
already famous and singing in huge venues and all over Rolling Stone
i will never get! and apparently i like the word "and".
i used it a lot.
as a kid my name wasn't so popular as compared to now.
i could never find anything with the correct spelling of my name
on it. on our way out of town we stopped at this little
antique shop. in front was this vintage bike with my
name on it. it makes up for not having it when i was a little one.

my favorite f ind at the antique shop
is this 1970's Astrological globe
i love globes and maps
and have chosen to start a small collection
when i see them. and this HAD to go
home with me! so it did.

i got a little snap happy on our way home, these are my favorite
ones but in my defense the desert whether it is the mountains or
a flat valley is somehow mystical and inspiring.
